Wireless capable mobile devices and multimedia streaming are very popular these days. However, streaming multimedia techniques are primarily designed for wired networks and they can perform poorly over wireless networks, due to wireless networks’ unique characteristics. Moreover, when wireless ad hoc networks come into the picture, the situation becomes worse, because of certain requirements on packet delay, jitter, loss rate and bandwidth. In order to support multimedia streaming on wireless ad hoc networks, special routing protocols should be defined which can route the packets through stable routes in order to minimize route failures and congestion. Energy consumption should also be considered, since the devices are mostly battery powered.
